Cibbster Designs is a small web studio based in Lapeer County, Michigan, run by Sheldon Cobb. We build custom, hand-coded websites and web applications and run SEO for small businesses, contractors and home-service companies — most of them in Michigan, some of them across the country. You work directly with the person writing the code. There is no account manager in between and nothing is offshored.

Why this studio exists

Most small businesses get one of two deals. Either they pay a national template company a monthly fee forever for a website they never own and cannot move, or they hire an agency that assigns a junior to a page builder, disappears for six weeks and delivers something that takes nine seconds to load on a phone.

Neither produces what a contractor in Lapeer County actually needs, which is straightforward: a fast site that appears when somebody nearby searches for the work you do, makes it obvious how to reach you, and does not become a liability because nobody thought about the person using a screen reader.

So that is what we build. The technical standards are genuinely high — this site and the sites we ship target perfect Lighthouse scores across performance, accessibility, best practices and SEO — but the actual goal is boring and commercial: more of the right people calling you.

Who you are working with

Sheldon Cobb founded Cibbster Designs in 2019. The work spans hand-coded PHP and JavaScript front ends, custom web applications and content management systems, technical and local SEO, and web accessibility auditing against WCAG 2.2. Recent projects range from a lead-generation site and local SEO programme for a Michigan exterior contractor to a high-traffic filtered content directory serving thousands of concurrent users.

Cibbster Designs is a Christian-owned company. In practice that mostly shows up as a strong preference for telling clients the truth about what they need, including when the honest answer costs us the sale.

How We Work

Six things we commit to

  • Ownership stated up front

    Commission a build as its own project and it is yours on final payment — the code, the design and the content — and if you want to take it to another developer we will help you move it. Work produced under an ongoing plan stays ours and is licensed to you while the plan runs. Your domain, your content, your analytics property and your data are yours either way. Which arrangement you are in is written into the agreement before you sign, not discovered on the way out.

  • Published prices

    Starting prices are on the services pages, mandatory one-time fees included. If the numbers do not fit your budget you find out in thirty seconds instead of three meetings, and neither of us wastes an afternoon.

  • Hand-coded, not assembled

    Sites are written rather than dragged together in a page builder. That is why they load quickly, why there are no forty plugins to keep patched, and why they still work in three years.

  • Accessibility is not an upsell

    Every build targets WCAG 2.2 AA as standard. Accessibility costs almost nothing when it is designed in from the start and a great deal when it is retrofitted after a demand letter.

  • No retainer traps

    Monthly services run month to month with 30 days' notice and no exit fee. Work that only pays off if you are contractually locked in is not work worth buying. And if a site is provided under a plan rather than bought outright, we say so at the quote stage — what happens when you leave is the one thing that should never be a surprise.

  • We will tell you not to buy

    If a $300 fix solves your problem, we will say so rather than quoting a rebuild. If an off-the-shelf tool genuinely fits better than custom software, we will tell you which one.
